ExpoForum, which is building an international convention and exhibition centre near Pulkovo Airport, approved its development concept for the new complex. The architects are Evgeny Gerasimov and Sergei Tchoban, which will now start working on the further design of the project. The complex will occupy 56.2 hectares and will have six exhibition pavilions with a total of 100,000 sqm indoor exhibition space, and a congress center that can accommodate up to 7,000 people and whose main hall can seat 3,000 delegates. There will also be two upscale hotels, a business centre with 24,000 sqm, and all other necessary infrastructure. The project will cost $1 billion.
The complex will be built to the highest international standards. Today, St. Petersburg lacks adequate space to hold high-level business conventions for more than 1,200 people. The new complex will be able to accommodate up to 10,000 people, and in addition, as many as 10 events will be able to be held simultaneously.
