ExpoForum Joined the Green Building Council
ExpoForum JSC joined the non-commercial organization, the Green Building Council, which seeks to foster and implement rules for ecologically-sound construction.
This NGO is the Russian branch of the World Green Building Council, which has branches in more than 60 countries. The organization's stated goal is to devise and lobby for national standards of ecological construction in Russia that will be based on international practices, but which will take into consideration the specifics of the local climate, environment, and existing construction norms and rules.
ExpoForum was accepted as a Premium level member, which is a category for companies with a turnover exceeding 30 million rubles, and which gives it greater possibilities within the Council.
``We are carefully studying the current green standards for construction of which the most well-known are BREEAM and LEED. All the certification systems are based on the same principles, therefore in the end it doesn't make a big difference according to which system we certify our convention centre. The most important thing is that by implementing a resouce-effective system at the design level we can then obtain a green certificate,'' said Anatoly Erkulov, ExpoForum general director.
