ExpoForum to help school pupils decide on their future careers
ExpoForum has launched a project under its range of community engagement programmes to help young residents of St Petersburg learn about different career opportunities. A series of tours that will introduce school children to the world of exhibitions will begin on 2 November.
The programme is intended as a long-term initiative which will give older pupils of state schools an inside view of what happens at St Petersburg’s conventions and exhibitions. Pupils will learn about the history and main activities of Lenexpo, the only specialised exhibition complex in the region, as well as of its operator, ExpoForum. They will find out what the main features of the exhibition industry are, how it interacts with other economic sectors, and the importance of developing business tourism in their home city. In addition, the pupils will have an opportunity to put their questions directly to industry specialists. Given the variety of traits and themes of the exhibitions at Lenexpo, no two tours will be the same.
The first pupils to take part in the programme will come from School No. 6 in St Petersburg’s Vasileostrovsky district, where the teaching staff have been working for several years to broaden their pupils’ horizons, providing careers guidance in various areas of work. On 2 November, two groups of thirteen and fourteen year-olds will get the opportunity to see PAP-FOR Russia 2012, the largest pulp and paper industry exhibition in Eastern Europe, at first hand. The exhibition is organised by Reed Exhibitions, a global exhibition industry leader, which has given its full support to the project. Pupils will not only find out about the processes involved in organising an exhibition, but will also learn about the industries represented there.
According to Sergei Voronkov, Executive Director of ExpoForum, today’s conventions and exhibitions bring together an extremely broad range of specialists, working at the cutting edge of their fields. The tours will therefore give school pupils a true picture of the range of professions available, and help them to make informed decisions about their future careers.
ExpoForum has received a letter of thanks from the administration of the St Petersburg Suvorov Military School, an institution run by the Russian Ministry of Defence.
Specialists from DMG Russland will demonstrate an effective combination of performance and the latest technologies.
Today ExpoForum is marking a significant date: it is one year since the first pile was installed in the foundation of the new ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The Arab business community is actively seeking opportunities in North-West Russia, according to Vladislav Lutsenko, Deputy Director of the Russian-Arab Business Council (RABC) and Director General of the Arabia Expo exhibition.
