Professional skills competitions to form part of the Russian Industrialist Forum

ExpoForum has signed a government contract to run the event in partnership with the Government of St. Petersburg Committee for Education.

On 1 August, ExpoForum won the tender to provide services for the organisation and running of professional skills competitions for students at St. Petersburg’s state lower and intermediate vocational training schools, in partnership with the Government of St. Petersburg Committee for Education. The finals of the competitions will take place during the International Russian Industrialist Forum, which will be held at the Lenexpo Exhibition Complex from 25–28 September.

The professional skills competitions are a major event, the only one of its kind in Russia. This is the third year that they have been held in collaboration with the directors of St. Petersburg’s specialised secondary schools and the City Administration. Students from the city’s lower and intermediate vocational training schools will compete across 34 professions, including welders, computer-controlled machine operators, metering and testing equipment and systems engineers, machine assemblers, metal shipbuilders and ship repairers, and car mechanics. The winners and runners-up of the competition and their teachers will receive top prizes – netbooks, smartphones, digital cameras and portable external hard drives. The awards ceremony will take place on 28 September in Pavilion 7 of the Lenexpo Exhibition Complex.

The competition aims to increase the prestige of manual trades, to advertise best practices in professional training, and to encourage employers to train their employees and recruit graduates.
