St Petersburg Government Allocates 600 Million Rubles to Help Fruit Growers

On 30 August 2012, Orchardist Day was held at the XXI Agrorus International Exhibition and Trade Fair. Andrei Lyakh, Head of the Department for the Development of Gardening in St Petersburg, was present at the opening ceremony.

Lyakh noted that St Petersburg fruit growers raised more than 540 tonnes of produce this year. Next year, these results are expected to improve several times over, as this summer the Government of St Petersburg adopted a new programme for the development of horticultural and dacha associations for 2013–2015, allocating RUB 600 million for the support of fruit growers and the development of gardening association infrastructure. In addition, the programme includes security measures for citizens in fruit-growing and dacha areas, the creation of high-quality social facilities (administration and communication centres, medical centres, sports fields and playgrounds, and recreation areas), and other measures.

On 28 August 2012, a round table entitled Problems and Solutions in Veterinary Care for Agricultural Enterprises was held at the XXI Agrorus International Exhibition and Trade Fair. The meeting discussed veterinary services for animal husbandry and aviculture in Russias northwest.


Alternative Energy Sources: the Future of Agriculture

On 28 August, the XXI Agrorus International Agricultural Exhibition and Trade Fair hosted a conference entitled Energy Efficiency in Agriculture: Innovative Development. The conference focused on ways of reducing energy consumption, as well as on the legal and regulatory framework surrounding energy conservation.


Less than 50% of Graduates of St Petersburg State Agrarian University Prepared to Work in Rural Area

This was the conclusion reached by experts who gathered at the Rural Youth and Society Today conference held on 27 August 2012 as part of the XXI Agrorus International Agricultural Exhibition and Trade Fair. The meeting focused on the quality of education available to young people in rural areas, and on efforts to attract young professionals to work in the countryside.

Less than ten days to go before the opening of the Agrorus 2012 International Exhibition and Trade

The 21st Agrorus International Agricultural Exhibition and Trade Fair will be held at Lenexpo from 27 August to 2 September. One of the biggest exhibitions in Russia, according to established tradition the event will include displays, indoor and outdoor trade stands, a wide-ranging business programme and a lively entertainment programme.


Professional skills competitions to form part of the Russian Industrialist Forum

ExpoForum has signed a government contract to run the event in partnership with the Government of St. Petersburg Committee for Education.
