The Largest Ever Contract in the Energy Sector is Signed at Lenexpo
OAO OGK-2 and Siemens Gas Turbine Technologies signed a contract at the Energetika & Elektrotechnika International Exhibition for the long-term maintenance of the PGU-800 equipment at Kirishi State Regional Power Station Ц the largest combined cycle power plant in Russia.
Under the terms of the contract, Siemens Gas Turbine Technologies (SGTT) will service the power plant for 12 years. The duration of the contract and the amount of equipment supplied make this deal the most significant in the Russian energy sector.
The steam gas turbine for the Kirishi State Regional Power Station was built by SGTT and installed about a year ago. It has increased the power plant’s capacity to 800 MW, while fuel consumption has fallen to 220 g/kWh.
At the signing ceremony Ralph Schneider, CEO of SGTT, emphasized that the turbines installed at the power plant were a good example the kind of modernizations in the Russian energy industry which would substantially improve energy efficiency and increase the power station’s capacity.
“This is the first year that fuel oil has not been used at Kirishi State Regional Power Station, even at the times of highest demand – autumn and winter”, said OGK-2’s General Director Denis Bashuk. “Combined cycle plants are the future of the energy industry.”
Increasing the capacity of Pulkovo Airport and the construction of the new Convention and Exhibition Centre are key current factors in the development of St. Petersburg.
In 2013, RussiaТs largest boat show, the Baltic Marine Festival, is changing venues: this yearТs exhibition will take place at the Krestovsky Yacht Club. The sporting events will be held at the St. Petersburg Trade UnionsТ River Yacht Club.
On 17 April the 20th Energetika & Elektrotechnika International Specialized Exhibition and the 1st Russian Energy Forum began at Lenexpo.
Stockholm and St. Petersburg have held discussions on future collaboration in the convention and exhibition industry.
ExpoForum will be taking part in the Russian-Swedish Modern Exhibition Technology and Software Convention, which is to be held in Stockholm from 10Ц11 April 2013. Participants will discuss current issues and key trends in the development of the exhibition sector.
