SportAccord has positive impact on St. Petersburg economy
The SportAccord International Convention is taking place from 26Ц31 May 2013 at the Lenexpo Exhibition Complex. Experts speculate that the international sports summit, being held in Russia for the first time this year, will provide a significant boost to the St. Petersburg economy.
According to a study from PwC, the world’s largest network of auditing and consulting firms, hosting the annual six-day forum, which attracts leading representatives of the sports sector from around the world, will supplement St. Petersburg’s budget to the tune of around USD 6.83 million. PwC estimates that the direct economic gains from the convention, as a result of expenditure by the 2,000 attendees from overseas, will add up to USD 3.77 million, while the multiplier effect will result in further returns of USD 3.06 million.

By providing a platform for an event of this magnitude, St. Petersburg has the opportunity to fully demonstrate its potential to organise major international conferences and to boost the development of business tourism.
Arabia-Expo and the 11th Russian-Arab Business Council will open at Lenexpo Exhibition Complex on 30 May. This will be the first time that St. Petersburg has hosted these events, which play a significant role in strengthening Russian-Arab relations.
