Unemployment is low, but production, trade and logistics need personnel
The CUBE EXPO Exhibition officially opened on March 16 at EXPOFORUM. The event brought together over 50 companies engaged in labour protection, experts, representatives of government, business, professional and public unions and associations. They will discuss topical issues of labour productivity and occupational safety, new forms of employment, personnel management, preservation of human life and health.
Dmitry Cherneyko, Chairman of the Committee on Population Labour and Employment of Saint Petersburg, addressed the event participants with the welcoming speech on behalf of Aleksandr Beglov, Governor of Saint Petersburg.
“Saint Petersburg has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country — 2.1%, according to the International Labour Organization’s methodology. In the city, over 3 million people are provided with jobs. Compared to the beginning of March 2020, the number of vacancies in the city employment service increased by 30%. Production, trade, logistics, education, IT, construction and other sectors need skilled employees,” Dmitry Cherneyko quoted the Governor’s address, adding that this year the exhibition surprises with its scale and large number of visitors.
Aleksandr Gorokhov, Deputy CEO for Commerce of the EXPOFORUM International, recalled that 110 years have passed since publication of the Charter “On Industrial Labour,” the first set of laws in labour protection. Since then, the occupational health and safety management system has undergone significant changes and has become mandatory. However, this industry, like any other, requires updating in accordance with new demands of the time, the geopolitical and economic situation in the country.
“This year, the traditional form and content of the CUBE EXPO has changed. More issues related to occupational safety and health, personnel management and training, scientific organization of labour and modern workplaces have been added. Besides, proactive formats are provided for, focused on the main trend aimed at meeting the demand for live contacts, for direct communication between the manufacturer and the buyer of goods and services, including the Business Contact Center, presentation and demonstration zones,” Aleksandr Gorokhov emphasized.
The opening ceremony was also attended by honored guests, co-organizers and partners of the exhibition: Marina Lavrikova, First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Saint Petersburg State University, Artem Shadrin, Director General of the National Qualifications Development Agency, Vladimir Kotov, President of the Association of Developers, Manufacturers and Suppliers of Personal Protective Equipment, Nikolay Krivozertsev, CEO of the EcoStandard Group, Head of the ESG Transformation Expert Center of the All-Russian Public Organization “Delovaya Rossiya.”
The Exhibition takes place on March 16–17 as part of the VII St. Petersburg International Labour Forum with support of the Government of Saint Petersburg, the National Qualifications Development Agency and the Association of Developers, Manufacturers and Suppliers of Personal Protective Equipment.
