November at Expoforum: Days of Industry and Innovation

Four events, dedicated to Russian industry, will be held simultaneously from 13 to 15 November at Expoforum: The 23rd “Russian Industrialist” International Forum, the 12th St. Petersburg International Innovation Forum, the 22nd “Corrosion Protection” International Exhibition and Congress and the fourth Forum of Young Workers.

All these events are being held under the “Days of Industry and Innovation”; an initiative by the company “ExpoForum International”. The aim of the project is to create a universal platform to develop the industrial sector, unite all of Russia’s regions on one platform and present the best industrial practice. Every year the event brings together more than ten thousand industry specialists.

The St. Petersburg International Innovation Forum is a platform which traditionally addresses the issues of the latest innovations. The main aim of the event is to allow direct interaction between the authorities, businessmen and science. This year, the partner country of the forum is Japan, which is presenting its examples of successful technology.

The Russian Industrialist Forum reflects the whole of Russia’s industrial potential. Here, experts discuss current problems in the sector and ways to solve them and present the best regional practices, while businesses demonstrate the latest equipment and inventions in engineering, metal work, machine tool technology and automation as well as modern technologies and materials. In total, 150 companies are participating in the exhibition, including Izhorskiye Zavody, Russian Railways, Rusnano, Stanko, Northwest Center for Technology Transfer and others.

Under the unified business programme “Russian Industrialist” and the Innovation Forum, 77 events will be held. In 2019 the main theme of the forums is “Export as an instrument of innovative development of the economy”. Discussions involve the heads of production, scientific and technical and technology clusters, business associations and educational companies. Throughout the discussions, questions will be raised regarding ways onto the foreign market: the rules of the game; exporting real and “virtual” goods; human capital; future innovations; the correlation between education processes and market demand; national competitive performance and diversification of exports.

Anti-corrosion protection of metals and materials in various industrial sectors is a key scientific and technical, economic and ecological problem. The Corrosion Protection Exhibition and Congress, designed to solve this issue, is exclusive to Russia. There will be demonstrations of modern methods and means of corrosion protection in different industrial sectors, isolating and protective materials, equipment for preparing surfaces and applying coatings, devices to establish the quality of isolating and protective coatings and means of non-destructive control and engineering diagnostics. The exhibition will provide a visual overview of opportunities for Russian manufacturers and will support businesses which are successfully creating competitive goods and services.

The idea of establishing the Forum of Young Workers came from students and young specialists working in St. Petersburg’s factories. The Administration of St. Petersburg supported the initiative and directly participated in its implementation. This is the first time that the Forum is being held under the Days of Industry and Innovation as a logical part of the industrial sector, dedicated to its young members. The platform will gather young people who work in businesses of various industrial sectors, executive and legislative government bodies at regional and federal levels and NGO’s, as well as specialists in youth politics who are studying or working towards a technical specialism. For young visitors looking to find a trade for life, the event provides a unique opportunity to learn about the internal workings of businesses and factories.

Those invited to participate and work at the Days of Industry and Innovation were the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Dmitrievich Beglov; the Governor of Leningrad Region, Alexander Yurievich Drozdenko; the Chairman of the executive board of Rusnano Management Company LLC, Anatoly Borisovich Chubais; the World Bank Programme Manager for Russia, Christopher Miller; the Director General of IntelMachine, Mikhail Alexeyevich Ignatov; the Deputy Director General and Chief Engineer of Russian Railways JSC, Sergei Alexeyevich Kobzev; the Managing Director of the Russian Export Center JSC, Alexey Viktorovich Kozhevnikov; the Consul General of Japan in St. Petersburg, Yasumasa Iijima; the Deputy Director General for operational effectiveness of the Federal Center of Competences in Labor Efficiency Foundation, Vladimir Vladimirovich Solodov.
