The President of Russia gave instructions to support the congress and exhibition industry

Last week, Vladimir Putin instructed the Government of the Russian Federation, together with the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), to prepare proposals for implementation of additional measures for supporting exhibition, fair and congress activities in our country. This was facilitated by the recent appeal of Sergey Voronkov, CEO of ExpoForum International, the president of the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs (RUEF), to the President of Russia at the RSPP Reporting and Election Congress.

Mikhail Mishustin, the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, and Aleksandr Shokhin, the head of the RSPP, were appointed responsible for implementation of the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation.

The industry community is working on the draft Plan for implementation of additional support measures and strategic development of exhibition, fair and congress activities. Consideration of the industry’s problems at the high level is the result of the joint work of the RSPP, the RUEF, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia, the Roscongress Foundation, the National Congress Bureau Association, and other associations.

“By March 1, we need to submit the document to the Government of the Russian Federation. Now it contains proposals for both the long term and the pandemic period, including development of the industry law, separation of congress and exhibition events from mass ones, amendments to the Methodological Recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor, consideration and approval of the industry development strategy until 2030, introduction of EXPO ID, subsidies, etc. Next week, the open meeting of the Commission on Congress and Exhibition Activities of the RSPP will be held jointly with the Presidium of the RUEF, at which the finalized draft document will be discussed,” Sergey Voronkov said.
