9 regions will sign agreement on recovery of the Baltic Water system
The document will consolidate development of unified approaches to comprehensive rehabilitation and protection of the Baltic Water system, which includes Lake Onega – Lake Ladoga – the Neva River – the Gulf of Finland.
The agreement was initiated by the Committee for Natural Resource Management, Environmental Protection and Environmental Safety, the industry executive authority of Saint Petersburg.
The agreement will be signed by the heads of the relevant state authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, located in the catchment areas of the Baltic Water system: Saint Petersburg, the Republic of Karelia, Leningrad, Kaliningrad, Pskov, Novgorod, Vologda, Arkhangelsk and Tver Regions.
The solemn signing of the agreement will take place on March 22 at 13:00, in Pavilion E, during the official ceremony of opening the Forum.

On March 22–24, for implementing tasks of the national project “Ecology,” the XXII International Forum “The Big City Ecology,” one of key industry events in Russia in the field of environmental protection, will be held.
The Forum will be held with support of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation and the Government of Saint Petersburg.
A significant event of the congress program will be the XXIII International Environmental Forum “The Baltic Sea Day,” which will be held on March 22–24. The theme of the plenary session is “Sustainable Management of Marine Regions as a Tool for Preserving the Marine Environment.” Expert speakers will exchange best practices on solving environmental issues in the marine regions of Russia and other countries.
