Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates, China – where and on what terms Russian business is expected

The specifics of entering the markets of friendly countries were discussed at the XXVIII International Forum-Exhibition «Russian Industrialist», held at the Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Centre. As it turned out, in many countries, Russian businesses continue to wait, despite the sanctions.

The Association of Exporters and Importers (AEI) organized a session dedicated to expanding the horizons of trade and economic relations with friendly foreign countries within the framework of the Forum-Exhibition «Russian Industrialist – 2024». In the face of sanctions, the association is ready to help Russian entrepreneurs establish new business ties. «Entering international markets is not a big deal», Irina Zasedatel, Vice President of the association, coordinator of the Standing Committee on Compliance with Prohibitions and restrictions and protection of Intellectual Property Rights of the Expert Advisory Council on Customs Policy Implementation at the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation, founder of «Kamerton+» company said.

So, Vietnam is now becoming a country that is actively developing and waiting for investments, Anastasia Sayanok, Chairman of the AEI Committee on relations with this country, Director General of Rushopro said. Historically, Russia and Vietnam have developed friendly relations, and now Russian business, according to her, is welcome in Vietnam. It is quite easy to register a company there, logistics corridors have been established for a long time, and business registration in Vietnam allows you to change the country of origin of goods.

Vietnam is one of the major transit hubs for the supply of goods from Europe, Japan and other countries to Russia, Evgeny Nikiforov, Chairman of the AEI Committee on International Logistics, member of the Council of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation for Foreign Economic Affairs added. He mainly devoted his speech to the specifics of doing business with Chinese companies. After the latest anti-Russian sanctions package came into force, even small Chinese banks refused to accept direct payments from Russian counterparties, but all difficulties with payments, cargo clearance and supplies can be solved one way or another, Evgeny Nikiforov assured. He noted that the state would do well to create a single window for coordinating imports, just as it is done for exporters.

Kristina Tancyura, Chairman of the AEI Committee for work with the UAE and the Persian Gulf countries, CEO and Managing Partner of SKY Consulting Group, member of the EurAsia Gulf Cooperation Council Advisory Board, spoke about the specifics of doing business in the UAE. The trade turnover between the UAE and Russia is growing many times every year, she said, and a large Russian diaspora has appeared in the country, thanks to which Russian companies are increasingly coming there. The UAE is interested in the development of industry and is ready to provide various benefits, Kristina Tancyura said, and there are many unfilled niches for business.

One of the main headaches for companies engaged in foreign economic activity is the problem of making payments. Aleksey Ostanin, Managing Partner of MoneyRoo, director of HudwayRu, and a resident of Skolkovo, told the audience about the specifics of working through payment agents. Agency schemes, according to him, are becoming more secure: now agents have begun to pay first, and money remains reserved in the client’s account until the last; it is almost impossible to block the activities of agents, unlike banks.
